Golden Sands Tourism Threatened by Road Problems |
Summer season at one of Bulgaria’s main seaside resorts is facing a fiasco because of a recent landslide, local officials said Tuesday.
The accident shut the main road to the high-class Golden Sands complex, making it hard for tourists to reach the place. They will have to travel on a roundabout road that still lacks electric lighting, and is considered more dangerous for buses.
Until recently, the local administration and the business were hoping that the Varna - Golden Sands highway could be repaired by the beginning of tourism season.
But detailed research showed that the damage caused by the landslide was more serious.
The Bulgarian Finance Ministry has already allotted money for putting the roundabout road in repair.
Meanwhile, tourism entrepreneurs at the luxury resort are fearing the place’s increased accommodation potential would go to waste if travelling problems persist.
