SNA Poll: Poor Infrastructure Stumbles Bulgarian Tourism |
Deficiencies in infrastructure are seen to be the most serious problem stumbling Bulgarian tourism, according to the majority of votes cast by readers of Sofia News Agency.
With a half of total votes in the latest poll, the undeveloped infrastructure in the country has created a large deal of uneasiness and discomfort to foreign tourist coming here.
"Nothing beats walking off 5 feet and finding yourself in the middle of a jungle of grass and weeds," a reader shared with Sofia News Agency.
There have been comments that Bulgaria targeting the lower end of tourism market might not be in the best interests of the country, unless Bulgaria improves significantly its infrastructure.
A threat for tourism in Bulgaria was detected also in the unstructured, chaotic over-development with little or no thought regarding the country’s infrastructure. Opinions suggested that it should be taken into account the impact it has on the local population, especially those on limited or no incomes such as the elderly and disabled.
"It is a rape of the land that needs strict controls in order to thrive and prosper with any amount of success that will benefit Bulgaria in the long run," a reader says in a comment for Bulgaria’s largest provider of Bulgarian news in English.
"The boom of Bulgaria’s tourism in the past two years isn’t a reassuring fact especially if we don’t improve the quality of the services offered," a Bulgarian mountain resort hotel manager has suggested.
